New and existing Voluntary and Community Organisations can apply for grant support from the Department. The individual grant schemes are as follows:-
  • Scheme of Grants to Locally Based Community and Family Support Groups: Funding for groups involved in programmes of self-help and personal development
  • Scheme of Grants to Voluntary Organisations: Funding available towards once off cost of equipment, premises and other items
  • Community Development Education and Training Grants: Funding for training and education initiatives aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of local community and voluntary groups

Qualifying groups include:
1. Family support and community development groups
2. Women's and Men's groups
3. Welfare rights and information groups
4. Lone parents support and self-help groups
5. Traveller groups
6. Co-ordinating organisations whose members or affiliated groups support eligible locally based groups

  • European Union Commission initiative, local development bodies have been appointed to administer the funds for the Cork region
  • Supports enterprise creation within the private and community sectors
  • Facilitates community groups to play a leading role in local development
